OPERATIONS MANAGER - Rolla Municipal Utilities
Rolla Municipal Utilities (RMU) is seeking applicants to replace our Operations Manager who is retiring in early 2017. Reporting directly to the RMU General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for all RMU field operations including engineering, electric and water crews, tree trimming, service and meter reading staff, inventory and technicians. Responsibilities include the management and maintenance of RMU assets, supervision of RMU Service Department staff, provide leadership to assist staff in functioning as a team, and to provide leadership in maintaining a productive, cost-effective and safe workplace. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to lead the planning, operational, engineering, and community service initiatives of the utility. The successful candidate will be one of high integrity with excellent personnel and communication skills. An emphasis will be placed on the ability to build relationships with employees, customers, the community, and associated organizations. RMU offers competitive compensation and benefit packages.
Rolla Municipal Utilities (RMU) serves 9,300 electric and 7,650 water meters with a $31 million operating budget. The electric system consists of 8 miles of 138kV transmission lines, 175 miles of distribution lines, and 15 distribution substations. RMU’s Water system includes 145 miles of water main, 19 deep water wells, two pump stations and 5 storage tanks. The water system has obtained an ISO1 rating in large part to our aggressive main replacement. We maintain a modern equipment fleet with financial reserves in place. RMU operates under an independent Board of Public Works which provides oversight to the Utility. Our business operates independent of the City of Rolla, but in close coordination with the City’s Public Works and other City Departments for planned expansions and reconstruction projects.
